Description: The scope of this project included the design, permitting and construction administration for a new fire station for the City of Gainesville. The station includes typical fire station living quarters and operational office, training room, five drive-through apparatus bays and associated support spaces for laundry, equipment repair and storage functions, and various features to facilitate training. In addition to the fire station’s operational functions, this facility also serves as administrative headquarters including offices for the Fire Chief, Deputy and Assistant Chiefs, fire inspectors and investigator, and administrative support personnel, as well as conference and other support spaces. The fire station is a category IV emergency facility designed to resist a 135 MPH ultimate wind speed. Bentley master planned the 1.5-acre urban site that includes on-site stormwater retainage.
