Drainage Engineer

Requirements:

  • Registered Florida PE
  • B.S. in engineering with at least 6 years of post-license experience
  • Well-versed in FDOT design standards and criteria related to both drainage design and plan production
  • Ability to interpret and apply technical information contained in manuals and regulatory documents
  • Takes initiative in tasks and meeting with other members of the design team
  • Strong and effective time management skills
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills
  • Knowledge of ERP permitting requirements with water management districts throughout the state
  • Proficiency with MicroStation, ORD Drainage and Utilities, ICPR, and PONDS is required
  • Microsoft Office suite knowledge is required
  • Proficiency with HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, ASAD, Hydra Flow and bridge scour analysis is a plus

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and design hydrologic and hydraulic conveyance systems, cross drains, and stormwater management facilities
  • Develop floodplain compensation calculations and design
  • Prepare technical documents with minimal oversight, including drainage reports, pond siting reports, and permitting documents
  • Prepare construction plans consistent with FDOT standards
  • Meet water management district staff; prepare and compile submittal packages of ERP permitting per water management district requirements
  • Design and inspection of best management practices for erosion and sediment control
  • Assist with QC of construction plans and design documents generated by other team members
  • Develop scope of services, fee negotiation, and schedule management for state and local agency projects
  • Coordination with other disciplines and meetings with clients
  • Assist in the developmental growth and mentorship of design staff
